Chapter meeting & illustrated presentation

Edme Bouchardon, was one of the greatest sculptors during the reign of Louis XV, and one of the most prolific draftsmen in eighteenth century France. His nine-year stay in Italy was instrumental in establishing his great reputation and in shaping his artistic personality. Two small volumes preserved in the Morgan Library and Museum in New York offer invaluable information on his taste and working methods during his sojourn in Rome from 1723 to 1732.  This lecture will be a virtual tour that will comb through the pages of those two small volumes, which Bouchardon carried with him while strolling through the streets of eighteenth century Rome.
