We invite you to join us in celebrating Joan Behnke’s remarkable career, enduring influence, and exceptional contributions to the art of interior design.
Founded in 1999, Joan Behnke & Associates, Inc. is an internationally acclaimed interior design firm recognized for creating timeless, highly personalized interiors rooted in artistry, craftsmanship, and collaboration. Joan remains deeply involved in every project, guiding each design from concept through installation while mentoring her team with the same passion and attention to detail that have defined the firm for more than three decades. Raised in San Francisco, Joan studied Art History and Dance, disciplines that continue to influence her refined sense of composition, movement, and emotion within interiors. Her early career included designing for the royal family of Saudi Arabia and later working on the renowned MGM Mansion in Las Vegas, experiences that shaped her signature approach to layered, deeply customized design. Today, the firm specializes in high-end residential and select commercial projects throughout the United States and internationally, with work spanning destinations including Italy, Morocco, Japan, Mexico, Indonesia, and the UAE.
As our primary fundraiser for the year, Legacy allows us to bring outstanding classical architecture and design programming to our community. From our New Heights youth education initiative and continuing education classes in the theory and practice of the classical arts geared to professionals, to topical lectures from experts in the field and exclusive tours of Southern California gems, this rich array of offerings is only possible with the generosity of our members.
