The Ultimate Bath, with Barbara Sallick

Please join the ICAA in welcoming Barbara Sallick, the co-founder of Waterworks. Barbara will be discussing The Ultimate Bath – a beautifully curated collection of dream bathrooms, designed by some of the most talented architects and designers working today.

These are baths that, while grounded in timeless elements, surprise and enchant. There are grand baths of high style with elegant mirrored and marble surfaces. There are bold rooms of rich maximalist patterns and color. There are strictly tailored spaces of great restraint and serenity. And finally, there are baths with restorative views of the garden or forest — or in the middle of nature themselves. Gathered, these spaces seduce, delight, and serve as a visual blueprint for readers looking to create refuge and beauty at home.

In that spirit, this lecture will explore everything from the vintage objects and artistry that inform Waterworks fittings to the vital role that time-honored craftsmanship plays in the company’s designs. With the help of stunning images, the audience will also be introduced to an array of “Ultimate Baths” — spaces that celebrate the unexpected and inspire design lovers to bring a magical quality to their baths, no matter how modest or grand.

Barbara Sallick is the co-founder of Waterworks, a noted speaker in the global design community, and the author of several acclaimed books, including The Ultimate Bath (2022), The Perfect Kitchen (2020), The Perfect Bath (2016), and Waterworks: Inventing Bath Style (2001). She has also contributed to books by Phillip James Dodd and Don Ruggles, renowned experts in classical architecture and design.
