Bringing Nature’s Intelligence Into Form- A Lecture & Workshop by Star Tile’s Andrea Keller

Please join us on Tuesday, June 30th, 2026 for a workshop evening with ceramic artist and educator, Andrea Keller of Star Tile.

Bringing Nature’s Intelligence Into Form
Star Tile is a design studio operating at the intersection of nature, beauty, geometry, and the built environment. By integrating biomimetic geometry, drawing from the fractal structures and mathematical harmonies found in the natural world and the human body, Star Tile creates handcrafted ceramic tile installations for those seeking biological resonance proven to regulate the nervous system and restore coherence.

Star Tile was founded to revive the great tradition of custom architectural ceramics that flourished in Southern California at the turn of the 20th century – a lineage that began with the Panama-California Exposition of 1915 and shaped the ornamental language of the region for decades.

The evening opens with a short visual presentation tracing the history of tile and ornament, from Owen Jones’ foundational catalog of motifs to the ceramic legacy of the Arts & Crafts movement. We will then move into the creation of your own ceramic tiles.

Each participant will create their own stoneware tiles using geometric and nature-based stamps specially produced for this occasion. Finished tiles are fired off-site and returned glazed to your specification – pieces made by hand, following ancient tradition.
