Born in 1889 in the farmlands of Schleswing Holstein, Germany, Peters emigrated to Los Angeles in 1922. Mr. Long’s talk will focus on how Peters, like many young German architects just before and after World War I, sought to come to terms with the classical legacy in the modern era.
The lecture will be based on Christopher Long’s newly released book, Jock Peters, Architecture and Design: The Varieties of Modernism (New York: Bauer and Dean, 2021). the first extensive survey of Peters’s work.
