The ICAA Southern California invites you to RTK Studios in Ojai, California, for a behind the scenes glimpse into the cuerda seca tilemaking technique. On this special tour, you’ll learn about the studio’s production process, their tile and mural designs, and how historic tiles are used to create custom installations.
RTK Studios was founded in 1979 by Richard T. Keit in Ojai, California. Keit’s creative endeavors are informed by his talents in engineering and mathematics. From proprietary glazes to intricate tessellated patterns, Keit’s work harnesses old world tradition and modern technique.
Fine artist Mary C. Kennedy joined RTK Studio in 1990. Together they have created numerous murals, large and small, and custom commissions around the globe. With a client list including the Royal Family of Jordan, musician Phil Collins, architect Frank Gehry, and a host of Hollywood luminaries, RTK’s work finds relevance in both historically inspired and contemporary projects.
