Architectural Rendering in Wash

Please join Frances Barrera for an Architectural Rendering in Wash class on Saturday December 6th. This course will introduce the techniques of Beaux-Arts wash rendering. Students will begin by learning

the basic skills needed to produce a traditional ink wash rendering of a Tuscan column capital. They will then develop an understanding of the qualities of light, shade, shadow, and reflected light, as well as a sensibility for how architectural geometries modulate light and shade and subsequently render form apparent.

Frances Barrera is a Senior Designer and Project Manager at Moule & Polyzoides in Pasadena, California, and currently resides in Silver Lake. She received her Bachelor’s of Architecture from the University of Notre Dame in 2023, supplemented by Sustainability and a Furniture Concentration. At M&P, she received the 2024 Traveling Scholarship to study geothermal energy and vernacular forms in Iceland. She has spent the past year studying and designing hilltown morphologies as walkable forms.
