Since the Renaissance, artists, architects and travelers have documented buildings, gardens and landscapes in portable bound books. Sketchbooks record historical artifact to serve the designer in a variety of ways:
1. Quick, gestural sketches fix a mental impression of a scene, a moment of light and shade;
2. Slower, more detailed drawings can be representational or illusionistic;
3. Measured drawings of building components to scale capture relationships in plan, elevation, section and profile for exact replication.
Please join instructor Winston Chappell in this plein air class to practice one or all three techniques at beautiful Virginia Robinson Gardens!
