SOLD OUT – Plein Air Watercolor Class with John Margolis

Please join John Margolis in Santa Barbara for a summer’s day plein air watercolor class.

In this follow up to John’s last sold out class, students will continue to learn the basic principles of plein air watercolor in a hands-on three-hour class. Taught by architect John P. Margolis, AIA, this class is intended to help students become acquainted with watercolor as a medium for plein air sketching, and refresh students with limited experience.

John will discuss the merits of traveling light, framing the composition, and choosing paper, watercolor brushes, and application techniques, including color mixing, washes, and paint selection.

Students will be sent a list of materials to be brought to class.

Please note: All students and experience levels are welcome. Students who attended the previous Techniques for Watercolor Sketching in Santa Barbara on October 2, 2022 are encouraged to attend.

COURSE FORMAT:
Course instruction combines lecture and field instruction. The class will open with a review of basic strategies and applications of watercolor, followed by field sketching in watercolor at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse.
